arose from the unique renovation of a house distinguished by its double access to streets on different levels, with a height difference of nearly ten feet (almost three meters). This characteristic, which could have initially presented a challenge, has become the central theme of the project, effectively making both floors function as “ground floors.”
Kitchen
Having fallen into a state of disrepair after more than eighty years and a period of vacancy, the renovation was guided by an in-depth study to find the optimal solution for the flow of movement and designated areas within the house. The double access from different streets allows for ideal natural ventilation, especially during the warmer months, inspiring the name of the house: Haizea, which means “wind” in Basque.
Outdoor Patio
The cozy outdoor area connects with the kitchen, which in turn connects with the interior courtyard through its large windows, creating fantastic air circulation and light throughout the house. This outdoor courtyard is linked to the interior of the house through the neutral tones and contemporary style of the furniture. However, here we see a greater emphasis on referencing the character of the Andalusian countryside, evident in the plants and colorful tiles of the planter wall, along with other details like the tiles.
By using aromatic native vegetation, perfectly adapted to the Andalusian climate, the aim is to capture the essence of the Mediterranean and the legacy of the Arab culture of this region.
Kitchen
Beyond its well-considered functionality for everyday use, Casa Haizea is distinguished by its careful ornamental simplicity and the application of high-quality materials and systems. Its style is the result of the harmonious balance between subtle curved shapes and the solidity of materials such as marble, resulting in a design that is both organic and contemporary.
By placing the bedrooms on the lower floor and the living areas on the upper floor, the design creates a perfect communal space for gathering without compromising the privacy of the home’s residents.

The integration of natural stone in this space aims to create surfaces with a cooling effect to the touch. The warmth of the wood and upholstery provides the necessary counterpoint to the nobility of the stone, ensuring that the kitchen retains its cozy essence.
Living - Dinning Room
Casa Haizea achieves a perfect balance throughout the entire home. The well-proportioned layout, the thoughtful solutions for the homeowner’s needs, and the timeless, cohesive design all combine to create a truly exceptional single-family residence.
